Welcome to the International Conference on
       Youth, Technology, and Health

Dear Fellows,

On behalf of the Department of Physical Education and the Conference Organizing Committee, I have great pleasure to invite you to attend the International Conference on “Youth, Technology, and Health” to be held at Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong from 20th to 21st of October, 2012. As the first conference of the Hong Kong Baptist University “Global Social Sciences: Hong Kong Initiative” project which seeks to address global social issues using innovative trans-disciplinary approach, it will not only discuss the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in terms of increasing sedentary behaviour and it's link with childhood obesity, but also look positively at how ICT could be used as an intervention strategy for reducing sedentary behaviours and providing behaviour change interventions.

2012 marks the 55th anniversary of Hong Kong Baptist University, so the Department of Physical Education would like to take this unique opportunity to celebrate the University’s contribution in promoting its ethos of Whole-person Education, in which physical and mental well-being is an important component, which could be achieved through regular participation of exercise and physical activity.

The Conference is organized to address multiple disciplines with an interest in promoting sport, exercise and youth health. The Conference will provide a forum to share and discuss research evidences and strategies for promoting healthy living among the youngsters. It would also be a valuable opportunity for scholars to build or tighten their links with other scholars for future research collaborations in the field. Moreover, participants may take this opportunity to explore Hong Kong’s spectacular architectures and cultural diversities, and to tour the scenic peak and the Vitoria harbour.

We look forward to seeing you in this conference, which would be a delighted and meaningful experience to you.

Professor Pak-Kwong Chung
Head, Department of Physical Education, Hong Kong Baptist University
